Welcome to the IU Southeast Applied Research and Education Center
The Applied Research and Education Center (AREC) is an outreach service of Indiana University Southeast. The Center brings the research skills and expertise of the academy together with the practical knowledge and experience of local agencies to help organizations improve programming and services that benefit the community. The AREC brings current data and research to bear on issues that face our region in order to help local leaders make informed decisions and develop programs that can best meet area needs.
AREC is a nonprofit fee-for-service entity generously supported by IU Southeast. Fees support student service learning in our Center and cover research related expenses including travel, administrative costs, supplies, and hardware and software needed to provide research services and products. We provide high quality research products at a fee well below the market rate for consulting research services. In addition, we provide students with the opportunity to earn money while expanding their skills, enhancing their educational experience, and increasing their knowledge and commitment to the Southern Indiana and Louisville-Metro community.
